ACLP recognizes that practicums have become a barrier within the pathway to the child life profession. Pre-internship experiences, such as practicums, are not required by the Child Life Certification Commission and ACLP does not endorse practicums or other pre-internship programs.
The Child Life program at Children's Minnesota lives within the Child and Family Services umbrella and includes child life professionals, music therapists, healing arts coordinator, and bereavement coordinator. Child Life professionals partner with the whole family, including siblings, to foster a positive and supportive care experience throughout the system in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Additional programming includes inpatient groups, outpatient support groups, special events, and annual memorial service.
