ACLP recognizes that practicums have become a barrier within the pathway to the child life profession. Pre-internship experiences, such as practicums, are not required by the Child Life Certification Commission and ACLP does not endorse practicums or other pre-internship programs.
The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital is comprised of Certified Child Life Specialists, Licensed Creative Arts Therapists, and other allied health professionals. Staff from the department provide services throughout the hospital, including inpatient and outpatient environments. Paws and Play, our animal assisted therapy program, and The Child Life Zone, our therapeutic play space and internal broadcast studio, are two notable programmatic offerings.
